The Easiest Way to Waste A Couple Hours Onine

I occasionally suffer from a lack of focus. If you do as well I highly advise you to not get addicted to Twitter. There are enough distractions in all of our worlds and I seem to find anything I can that will allow me to postpone what I should be doing. Because I can always do it later. So last weekend a friend turned me on to Twitter. For those of you who do not know, Twitter is a micro blogging platform that essentially asks the question "what are you doing right now?" You can write anything that comes to your mind and it will be shared among all those who are "following" you. There are some great benefits to a service like this. You can instantly ask a question to thousands of potential followers. Find out of town restaurant recommendations. Get software or other help in an instant, meet up with like minded people. The possibilities truly are endless. So what has Twitter done for a regular guy who lacks focus? I have successfully spent three hours reading about nothing, posting about nothing, and have nothing to show for it. The most amazing feature of Twitter is that you can find a whole host of third party tools to make it more efficient. Yes, you can now efficiently read about what other people are currently doing (in case you cared). I am sure tomorrow I will spend a few more hours going through those tools as well. My advice and goals with Twitter. Use it before and/or after work. Disable it during work and just have fun tweeting. |
